The Kyu System in Osada-Ryū is inspired by the ranking systems used in Japanese martial arts. Students progress step by step through clearly defined content. Each level builds upon the previous one and combines technique, body awareness, rope handling, posture, and presence.
One special feature is the counting system: you do not begin at Kyu 1, but at Kyu 9. From there, students work their way through Kyu 8, Kyu 7, and the following levels up to Kyu 1. Kyu 9 is the entry level, while Kyu 1 is the highest student rank.
There is no Dan system, as known from some martial arts, within Osada-Ryū. The focus lies on the Kyu levels and the continuous deepening of practice within this structure.
The training is suitable for anyone who wants to engage deeply with Osada-Ryū. It is not only about reproducing patterns, but about developing an understanding of structure, effect, communication, and safety in rope.
No previous experience is required to begin this training. The Osada Steve Kyu System is designed to provide beginners with the complete foundation they need in order to learn all aspects of rope work.
The training can take place as a private lesson or as group training. Within the group setting, an additional learning space emerges where observing, repeating, and reflecting together become part of the training experience.
Aijō offers a clear, respectful, and practice-oriented environment in Lenzburg for people who want to learn Osada-Ryū systematically. The training follows the Kyu structure and supports you in developing your own rope practice step by step.
Osada-Ryū also includes examinations in order to evaluate the learned material through a certified instructor.
Whenever possible, care is taken to ensure that teachers do not examine their own students. For this reason, Aijō organizes an annual examination day together with the Kinbaku Studio Vienna and Secret56.
