Rope Bottoming – The Model Side of Ropes

This Shibari workshop for models and rope bottoms puts the person in the ropes at the centre. You will learn how to participate actively in a tying session, communicate your boundaries clearly and use body awareness to help create a safe, intense encounter in rope.

Taking an active role in rope bottoming

As a model, you contribute just as much to a successful Shibari session as the rigger. Your awareness, responses and decisions shape the experience you create together in rope.

We do not treat the model side as a passive role. You will discover which skills improve the interaction and how you can help make the session a positive and intense experience for everyone involved.

Safety and clear communication

Good communication begins before the first rope is applied and continues throughout the session. In this workshop, you practise noticing physical and emotional signals, giving useful feedback and communicating boundaries early and clearly.

  • recognising your own needs and boundaries
  • describing sensations precisely
  • communicating physical changes in good time
  • sharing responsibility as tying partners

Body tension, feedback and handling pain

Through practical exercises, you will explore how to use body tension intentionally and how it affects stability, movement and the experience of a tie. You will try out ways in which immediate feedback can support your shared actions.

We also take a nuanced look at pain: What may be expected in a particular context, what is changing and where are your personal limits? The focus is not on enduring pain, but on noticing, understanding and communicating it consciously.

The workshop is suitable for models of all experience levels.

The person tying should be comfortable with:
